We are off and running a new season on the Mohawk Towpath Byway. The service berry blossoms are defying the cold April winds and willows are sprouting new green. Apple blossoms will be out shortly.
We were grateful for the help organizing and volunteering cleanup efforts this past weekend In Clifton Park, Cohoes, Halfmoon, Niskayuna, Scotia, and Waterford. In fact many places had a couple or more crews braving wet conditions even a shower of sleet.
So look for apple blossoms as they open. As you travel the Byway remain vigilant for turtles crossing the travel lanes. Even though they need to get to high ground to lay their eggs they don’t have the flexibility to avoid motor vehicles or even cyclists. Watch for turtles!
But get out on the Byway and welcome the new season!
