Snow is expected tomorrow on the Mohawk Towpath Byway so grab your cross country skis or snowshoes and explore some of our recreational assets. Try the Schenectady Municipal Golf Course, Vale Park or Central Park; Niskayuna’s Blatnick Park or the old canal route south out of Aqueduct Park.  In the Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve you can explore where the old canal is still iced over much the same as it would have been over a century ago. Another neat place to explore with new snow cover is the trail through Crescent Park in Halfmoon between Canal Road and the River. Colonie has the Riverfront Park with its unique covered bridge and waterfront areas. Explore the old Canal Locks in Cohoes starting with lock 18 and continue south through a string of parkland stretching nearly all the way through the City. Don’t forget to explore the Flight of Locks in Waterford where you can see the majestic lock structures in their winterized dry state. Travel on the Byway may be slow in the blowing snow, but ski or snowshoe traffic is in it’s glory!
