Fifteen years ago Isabel Prescott, owner of Riverview Orchards, was on the board of the Mohawk Valley Heritage Corridor Commission. Although she is too modest to take credit for the idea of the Mohawk Towpath Byway she shares the vision of economic benefits of sustainable communities, the concept of buying close to home, and pride in our community that has become the hallmark of the Byway effort and implementation. She has been a supporter of, and an inspiration for the Byway. She has been active in local historic preservation and has helped the Town of Clifton Park implement a number of the concepts within our Scenic Conservation Action Plan. She has also helped us with an early marketing initiative with Stewart’s Shops when “Crumbs Along the Mohawk” was named the official ice cream of the Mohawk Towpath Byway.
At the quarterly meeting of the Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway Coalition I had the pleasure of presenting Isabel Prescott with the well deserved 2012 Business Partner of the Year.
